Burn-in happens when static on-screen elements (status bars, HUDs) age OLED pixels unevenly, leaving faint permanent ghosts. Modern panels and features (pixel shift, dimming, AOD tricks) greatly reduce the risk.
It is a trade-off of OLED vs IPS LCD; LCDs are immune but can suffer temporary image retention.
