[ GLOSSARY DEFINITION ] Performance

Transistor Count

The number of transistors on a chip (in billions); more, on a smaller node, means more performance.

Also known as: Transistors

Full Definition & Technical Explanation

Transistor count is how many switches a chip packs (e.g., 13.8 billion on Apple M3 GPU, ~50B+ on flagship SoCs). Shrinking nodes pack more transistors per mm².

More transistors enable more cores, bigger caches, and AI accelerators. See Transistor count in GPU/SoC specs.
