[ GLOSSARY DEFINITION ] Camera

ISP

The chip block that processes photos/video from the camera sensor before you see them.

Also known as: Image Signal Processor Image processor

Full Definition & Technical Explanation

ISP (image signal processor) handles demosaicing, HDR merging, noise reduction, and video encoding from the sensor. SoCs list Max camera resolution: 1x 48MP under Multimedia (ISP).

A strong ISP + NPU is why flagship photos look better than raw sensor specs suggest.
